Johan Rockström is a world renowned Swedish scientist that is most recognized for his advocacy on global sustainability issues. He has stood at the forefront of major discoveries including the planetary boundaries framework. The nine planetary boundaries presented in the framework encompass everything from ocean acidification to climate change and he argues that all are essential in maintaining a "safe operating space" for humanity. This framework plays a fundamental part in shaping our communities as it has been used by governments, international organizations, NGO's, and companies interested in sustainable development (Stockholm Resilience Center, 2019).
To this day, Rockström strongly advocates for his scientific views on climate change via documentaries and his social media. He urges people to take the climate crisis seriously as if we were to reach a point of no return, there truly is no coming back.
